DOUBLE VICTORY

Double Victory recognizes the contributions of war workers, volunteers, activists, entertainers, and members of the military who fought racism and discrimination to do their part for the war effort. Lena Horne and Mary McLeod Bethune were well known and remembered by history. But other courageous women such as Pauli Murray, Inda DeVerne Lee, and Coretti Arle-Titz are not in the history books. Many African American women helped win a world war while laying the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Their stories are celebrated in Double Victory

Ages: Young adult

The American Library Association named Double Victory to its "Amelia Bloomer Top Ten List for 2014"
